format: a hardcover book combining photography and a written work.

the book contains a sequence of photographs accompanied by a manifesto, which serves as both the conceptual framework and an instruction for interacting with the work. after the book was fully assembled, it was randomly shot once through its middle with a pistol. the bullet pierced the front cover, passed through every page, and exited through the back cover, leaving a unique trajectory determined entirely by chance. the resulting perforation permanently alters every photograph and every page of text, physically embedding randomness into the object itself. the spent cartridge casing from the shot is affixed to the back cover at the point where the bullet exited, remaining as the only physical trace of the event that transformed the book.

the final page contains a single match together with a striking strip, allowing the reader to burn the book upon finishing it. this concluding gesture directly follows the manifesto's proposition that all things inevitably disappear and that destruction should be accepted rather than resisted. the reader is therefore invited to complete the work by destroying it, making the book's disappearance an intended part of its format rather than the end of it.
